Privacy policy

Swapzy (swapzy.ae) is a UAE marketplace for new and used electronics, run by a company registered in a UAE free zone. For any privacy question, email hello@swapzy.ae.

Your account: name, email, password (stored scrambled by our sign-in provider), emirate, language, and your phone number if you add it.

Emirates ID check: photos of the front and back of your card and a selfie, kept in private storage only our review team can open. From the card we keep a masked ID number and a one-way fingerprint of it so one ID can't open many accounts.

Shop verification: trade licence, storefront photo, shop name, address, opening hours and shop phone.

Listings: photos, device details, price, meetup area, and the IMEI or serial number, which stays private and is only used to check for stolen devices.

Offers and messages: offers you make or receive, chats with other members after an offer is accepted, and chats with our team.

Trade In: your address, phone, device details, visit time, inspection results and payout details.

Payments: card payments are handled by Stripe — we never see your full card number. For bank transfer, cash or crypto we keep the amount, the reference and our receipt.

Phone alerts: a device token and the device type (iPhone, Android or computer) if you switch alerts on.

To run the marketplace: show your listings, deliver offers and messages, and send alerts and emails about your account.

To keep people safe: review listings and IDs before they go live, block devices reported stolen, and spot scams.

To take payments for boosts and Store Pro, and to pay you for a Trade In.

We use an AI service to read the text on your Emirates ID for our reviewers, and to translate a listing or message when you tap Translate.

Other members see what you publish: listing details and photos, your first name, emirate and member-since date. Shops also show their shop page.

A seller's phone number is only shown to a buyer after the seller accepts that buyer's offer. A pickup address is only shared inside that accepted-offer chat, and the buyer can no longer see it once the deal is closed.

We share data with the companies that help us run Swapzy (hosting and database, email, Stripe for card payments, Firebase for phone alerts, and our AI provider), only for that purpose. We share data with UAE authorities when the law requires it.

We do not sell your data and we don't use advertising cookies.

We store what the site needs to work: your sign-in, language, light/dark choice, drafts of ads you are writing and your grid/list view.

Some of our providers store data outside the UAE. We keep your data while your account is open and for as long as needed for safety, disputes and legal record-keeping, then delete or anonymise it.

You can edit your profile at any time. To get a copy of your data, correct it or delete your account, email hello@swapzy.ae from the address on your account.

Swapzy is for people aged 18 and over.

If we change this policy we update the date above, and tell you in the app when the change matters.
